Applications are invited from UK qualified solicitors or barristers with good academics and 3 years or more relevant PQE to join the Group Legal Function of GKN plc.
GKN is a leading global supplier to the world's automotive, off-highway and aerospace manufacturers providing technology-based, highly engineered products to virtually all of the world's major manufacturers of cars and light vehicles, agricultural and construction equipment and aircraft and aero engines, employing some 40,000 people in more than 30 countries.
The Group Legal Function is responsible for legal matters for the Group worldwide and operates through offices in the US, Germany and China and from the Corporate Centre in the UK reporting to the General Counsel.
The Group has a focussed Intellectual Asset Management Strategy designed to maximise its competitive advantage. In support of this the successful candidate will be required to assist on a wide range of primarily non contentious IP related matters. These include advising upon and effectively documenting all types of IP agreements and supporting acquisitions, divestments and joint ventures. Advising on and managing contentious IP matters as they arise will also form part of the role.
The post is based at the GKN Corporate Centre, in Worcestershire but both domestic and overseas travel will be required on occasion.
In addition to at least 3 years PQE, preferably within the corporate/commercial department of a substantial law firm, applicants must be commercially orientated with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management.
Success will depend on high levels of skill, decisiveness and commitment to ensure that transactions are implemented quickly, efficiently and on target. A commercial and innovative approach to problem solving, dedication to client service and the desire to work as part of a highly committed team are also key requirements.
Experience in the automotive, off-highway or aerospace industries will be an advantage whilst relevant foreign language skills will be favourably considered.
The remuneration package will reflect the level of responsibility and includes the provision of a car allowance, defined benefits pension scheme and where appropriate relocation expenses.
