Simply Wonderful - The Return of the Apprentice

The Apprentice: It’s Back!!

We in the Simply Online office cannot wait for the return of The Apprentice, which returns to our screens this Wednesday, BBC1 9pm. We are particularly interested this year as the majority of candidates are from a Sales & Marketing background, including a Recruitment Sales Manager and there is also a trainee Barrister and a Qualified Barrister, the now traditional ‘entrepreneur’ and even a bank manager. There are 16 aspiring candidates looking to secure the coveted prize of a six-figure salary and the opportunity to work for one of the most successful business moguls in the world. The contenders have been hand-picked from 20,000 hopefuls desperate to appear on the award-winning BBC show. Here are a few that we will keep a close eye on;

Jenny Celerier, age 36, a Sales Manager who has been named Sales Person of the Year 3 times says "If you’re sitting on the fence, you’re taking up too much space." Well Jenny, if you don’t succeed in The Apprentice you can always look for a Sales Manager role on Simply Sales Jobs:

The two candidates from a legal background; trainee Barrister Nicholas De Lacy Brown and Qualified Barrister Sara Dhada have vastly differing aspirations. Nicholas achieved his LLB Law degree from Kings College London and passed his Bar exams. Although from a working class background he is content to seek the life of an artistic, country-hopping lord. He has even adopted his Grandmothers’ surname in an attempt to sound more aristocratic!

Sara Dhada decided to ‘save the family business’ after qualifying as a barrister. She now works as an International Car Trader. Her father was a self-made millionaire at the age of 25 and Sara hopes to follow in his footsteps. Sara achieved her BA (Hons) Law and Economics at the University of Leicester. Law Jobs: Roles for Barristers

Jennifer Maguire is a Marketing Consultant and claims she can ‘sell anything’ and is the ‘best salesperson in Europe’!! Quite a declaration, but then she did survive in Advertising Sales and the Advertising Marketing Sector . With such a bold statement, you’d think she is on track to be a winner – watch this space.

Recruitment Sales Manager, Lee McQueen, has already got some attention in discussion forums and blogs – from how good looking he is, to the fact that he is from a Recruitment Background. As some people don’t regard Recruitment Consultants that highly, he is being called all-sorts! Come on Lee – help dispel the myth and fly the flag for all decent recruiters out there. He has over eight years experience in the recruitment industry gained predominately in IT. For opportunities in Recruitment Sales/IT Sector visit our leading Sales Jobs-board:

Helene Speight, age 32, also had a ‘spell’ as a Recruitment Consultant during her career to date.
Simply Sales Jobs carries over 400 Telesales Jobs, which Michael Sophocles a Telesales Executive from London may need to fall back on with such strong competition. Michael says "I am single minded and will manipulate others if necessary to get to the prize.", mmmmm – my gut feeling, he will be one of the 1st to be pushed.

Software Sales Manager / Channel Manager

Ian Stringer, is a contender this year, but oh dear did he really say this? “There are two types of people in this world: winners and … I don’t know how to say the word, I can’t say it”. Go on Ian, if you are that strong you could say it easily, so stop being a wimp!

"I'm a stubborn cow who wants to have the last word", crikey that sounds like me! Shazia Waheb said this and it seems that she might be a front runner this year. Her career includes working as a Sales Assistant and several roles in Marketing.

Last of the Sales bunch, Alex Wotherspoon, Regional Sales Manager from Bolton, in his normal life is responsible for 30 Sales Agents. Alex reckons that he could win The Apprentice because of his tenacity and communication skills.

Tune in to see what boardroom classic lines Sir Alan will come up with this year.
